This week, we have managed to finish painting the two main steels in the garage (in a rather fetching shade of Hammerite). We have also re-pointed the worst of the old lime mortar on the end wall and, after much bashing, grinding and welding, the new steel supports have been installed. We can now be confident that the old first floor is totally secure and able to withstand a decent party!
(note to self - must have a proper look at the steels that hold up the roof, one day)
