I haven't posted for a couple of weeks because it would have been just more of the same old, same old, concreting story. We have passed a major milestone now, though, as the ground floor walls are all in place and, at last, the site is secure and clean. The little digger left site yesterday (I think Peter was rather sad to see it go as he has enjoyed playing with it) and all the concrete shuttering is going, today.

We are getting down to the detailed level of planning now. We had a meeting with Peter and Steve, the plumber, on site this morning to start thinking about exactly where the heating manifolds are going to go and trying to decide exactly where all the various pipe runs will be. We have also been fine tuning the layouts for the downstairs bathrooms and making sure that the window openings are all in the right place - they weren't!

The next job for the boys is to start building up the block work internal walls so they can then install the block and beam first floor. The plan is that this will all be done before Easter. They are then going to have a week or two away to finish off another job and, during this time, we are going to strip out the last of the old kitchen in the old part of the building. Much of the remainder of the new build is going to be timber framed so it should progress a bit more quickly from now on.
