More good progress

The construction work on the new walls at ground floor level has continued over the past couple of weeks.  Most of the steel reinforcing for the walls has now been assembled and the concrete has been poured in one corner.  Peter is deliberately leaving the last bit of the soil bank in place for the moment to support the back of the hole on the lane side until the rest of the concrete is in place and has "gone off".

The first bit of concrete walling goes in

The guys have done a few other jobs this week while they have been waiting for materials.  They have put the first layer of insulation on the outside of the front of the building and, inside, they have constructed the framework to support the new ceiling in the open plan living space.

Diane and I have been finalising the last details of the plans for the kitchen and agreeing the specifications and costs for the external doors and the balustrade on the roof terrace (sharp intake of breath with that one!).
