When we bought the Oyster House at Newton Ferrers, it was a quirky little building in need of a lot of tender loving care, but with a location and views to die for! This is the story of it's transformation into something that we think will be rather special.

Cedar cladding goes on.
This week, we finally got to see one of the key features of the new Oyster House emerge as the cedar cladding went up on the front and side elevations. As we had hoped, this looks really good with the dark grey aluminium windows. There are some very subtle features like the shadow lines between each of the boards and between the boards and the window reveals. The stainless steel nails all line up vertically, too. We think the cladding looks great already but it should get even better with time as the colour gradually changes to silver/grey. We can't wait, now, for the rest of the walls to be rendered and for the balustrade to go on the roof.
Inside, the plasterer is still hard at work and earlier in the week we started painting the main room at the front. This has now had a couple of coats of emulsion and Peter has laid the oak floor in the kitchen area so that the kitchen units can be fitted.
