Meanwhile, Diane and I have been working with potential suppliers to agree the specifications and prices for the kitchen (we are getting very close to this, now), the windows, the doors, the ventilation system and the wood burning stove.
When we bought the Oyster House at Newton Ferrers, it was a quirky little building in need of a lot of tender loving care, but with a location and views to die for! This is the story of it's transformation into something that we think will be rather special.

We're getting there
It seems that whatever I say about the weather, it just carries on being pretty much as bad as it can be for this stage of the project. While we were away last week, the rain and the wind continued in much the same vein as before (if anything, the wind was even worse than before) but the boys just carried on digging. When we went over to the site on Monday, it was clear that they have got down to the required level in places but the hole still needs to be squared up. There is now a lot of ground water seeping into the hole from the exposed face of the shillet the back of the excavation so the boys are having to pump pretty much continuously while they are working and there is a now muddy slick going down the creek.
